Rooms with many corners, alcoves or irregular boundaries generate more cut pieces that cannot always be reused elsewhere, pushing actual wastage above a simple open hall of the same area. If your layout is unusually complex, consider increasing the calculator's default wastage percentage slightly to reflect this rather than relying on the standard baseline.
